5) realism in character
Aristotle's first statement about character reminds us that his concept of art is mimetic. He looks to nature for his models, and insists on realistic representations of character.
It stands to reason that Aristotle's insistence on some sort of logic that propels the plot from event to event would also apply to the characters as well. They are, in effect, the agents that move the action. His reference to causality in the portrayal of character lays the groundwork for the psychological realism we have come to expect in naturalistic drama.
